Superflux International Limited at NIBF 2025: Advocating for Local Paper Production and Affordable Education

From May 7 to 9, 2025, the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, hosted the 24th Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF), bringing together stakeholders from Africa and beyond to discuss the future of the Publishing and Print Sector. Superflux International Limited (Superlux) proudly participated as both a sponsor and exhibitor, engaging in meaningful dialogues and showcasing our commitment to advancing the print sector. Our MD/CEO, Mr. Gabriel Okonkwo who is also the chairman Printing and Publishing section of the Lagos chamber of commerce and industry delivered a goodwill message at the dinner and networking session which held on 7th evening at same location.

Key Discussions at NIBF 2025

The central theme of this year’s fair was “Local Paper Production: Panacea to Affordable Book Production and Qualitative Education.” The conference aimed to address the challenges of relying on imported paper and its implications for education and publishing in Nigeria.

Professor Abiodun Oluwafemi Oluwadare from the University of Ibadan delivered a keynote address emphasizing the potential of Nigeria’s forest resources for pulp and paper production. He highlighted that investing in local paper production could reduce book costs and enhance educational accessibility.

A panel discussion, moderated by Mr. Olugbemi Malomo, immediate past President of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON), featured industry leaders including Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria; the CEO of Nixin Paper Mill Nigeria Limited; and Mr. Rogers Nforgwei, MD/CEO of NMI Education, Cameroon. The panelists discussed strategies to revitalize Nigeria’s paper industry, emphasizing the need for investment, policy support, and stakeholder collaboration.

Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, and Senator John Owan Enoh, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, also attended the conference, underscoring the government’s interest in developing local paper production to support education and reduce reliance on imports.
